So what exactly is a fractional CMO?

A fractional CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) is a part-time, highly experienced marketing executive who provides strategic marketing leadership and expertise to businesses without the full-time cost. They help set and achieve marketing goals, drive growth, and ensure all marketing efforts are aligned with the overall business strategy.

The 'fractional' term refers to both the part-time nature of the role, but also the cost. A fractional CMO is also a fraction of the cost of a full-time CMO or VP of Marketing.

What does a fractional CMO do?

A fractional CMO performs many of the same functions as a full-time CMO, including:

- Developing and implementing marketing strategies.
- Managing marketing teams and budgets.
- Overseeing all marketing channels.
- Analyzing market trends and customer data.
- Driving brand awareness and growth.
- Optimizing customer acquisition and retention.

How much does a fractional CMO cost?

At Feels Like Friday, we typically charge between $5,000-$10,000 depending on the scope of the work. That is about 20% of the total cost of a full-time CMO and roughly the same monthly cost an agency would charge you to manage 1-2 marketing channels, like Meta or Google.

With a fractional CMO, you get all of the execution of a top marketing agency, and all of the strategy of a seasoned CMO, but for a fraction of the cost.

What exactly do I get when I hire a fractional CMO?

We contract with you as a consultant and growth partner. Typically, we invest about 40 hours per month into growing your business and helping you reach your goals.

We help to identify the gaps in your existing marketing strategy, develop a roadmap for success and then execute on that plan.

For example, we'll determine the right strategy to reach your ideal customers at a scale that makes sense for your growth stage. Then we'll execute on that strategy by implementing a wide range of proven tactics. Then we'll help you retain more customers and get them coming back more often to purchase from you.

How are you different from other fractional CMOs?

Our purpose is to help you grow - profitably. Our entire approach is centered around your bottom line. We want to essentially own the demand side of your P&L.

A lot of other agencies or growth partners are focused on top-line revenue. We care more about your cash flow and the money you get to put back in to your pocket.
